Swan Training attends horse show at all levels from schooling shows to premier hunter and jumper shows. We attend shows locally, throughout the Northwest, from coast to coast, and in Canada.
DAY CARE/SUPERVISION: is a service provided for all horses participating at a horse show. This service begins the day the trainer leaves for the show and continues until the trainer returns from the show. Services included are:
- Schooling at the show
- Coaching at the show
- Travel preparation
- Filling out and mailing horse show entries
- Daily scheduling of classes
- Daily scheduling of braiding (if needed, client is responsible for paying the braider directly)
- Administration of medication (if needed, client will be billed for medications)
GROOMING: provided at the horse show and begins the day the horses leave for the show and continues until they return to the farm. Services included are:
- Feeding 3-4 times a day
- Set-up and cleaning of stalls
- Preparation for the show ring
I do encourage all of my students to help groom their horses at the shows and be a part of the process.
HORSE EXPENSES: includes but not limited to; medications, hay, grain, supplies or equipment needed for the specific show, horse laundry, groom housing if required, etc. Shared items are split between the numbers of horses.
TRAINER EXPENSES: includes but not limited to; travel expenses to and from the farm and the show, trainer housing, etc. To be split between the number of horse owners.
SELF-GROOMING: client is responsible for providing everything listed above under the GROOMING section. Self-grooming must be done for the full duration of the show. There will be a $50.00 set up fee for those who choose to do self-grooming at shows. A stall cleaner may be hired to clean, feed and water. Client will be billed for this service if the do self-grooming. Price will vary depending on what the stall cleaner charges.
TACK/GROOM/FEED STALLS: if needed to provide adequate space and storage during the duration of the show. Rates will vary depending on the specific needs at each show. These fees will be divided equally among all the horses participating at the show and will be billed by the show. This fee shows up on your show bill as “splits”
FEED/BEDDING: is provided and distributed throughout the show. If possible, feed will be brought from home. On the occasion that we are not able to bring feed, feed will be purchased at the competition. Bedding will be provided at the competition. Rates for these supplies vary and will be divided equally among all the horses attending the show and will be billed by the show. This fee shows up on your show bill as “splits”
TRANSPORTATION: will be arranged by Swan Training. Rates will vary depending on the location and transportation company used. All payments will be made directly to the transportation company.
BRAIDING: is required for Hunter and Equitation horses. Swan Training employs a braider at shows. All payments must be made directly to the braider on the Saturday of the show. If a check is not left for the braider by Saturday at 6:00 pm, Swan Training will provide payment and will charge client a $35.00 fee. Please note; the braider providing this service sets fees.
ENTRIES: will be filled out by Swan Training and sent into the horse show management. You are required to pay a horse deposit and for your stall. These checks must be paid directly to the specific horse show management at the time the entries are mailed. Rates of the entries will vary depending on the show and the number of classes. Before Saturday at every show, please leave a check or supply a credit card in the show office or with Swan Training so that check out will be able to be completed on Sundays. If a credit card or a check is not provided, Swan Training will provide payment and client will be billed at $35.00 fee.
ASSOCIATIONS/MEMBERSHIPS: is required at the shows. If you have not joined, nonmember fees will apply and nonmember penalties may occur. The organizations to join are United States Equestrian Foundation (USEF), United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA), Pacific Coast Horse Shows Association (PCHA) and Oregon Hunter Jumper Association (OHJA). Please speak with the trainer for more information on these organizations.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS AND TRAVEL: Hotel accommodations for Swan Training Staff will be split between all the clients attending the show. This fee if for non-local shows (30 miles or further from the farm) and begin the day before the start of the horse show. The cost of travel from the farm to the show facility and from the show facility to the farm will be split between all the clients attending the show. This fee has enabled Swan Training to maintain a low day fee at the horse shows.
